UPDATE: House explosion couple 'progressing well'
An elderly couple who suffered severe burns in a suspected gas explosion at their Ascot home are making 'good progress', a hospital has said.
John and Sylvia Munro, both 71, were injured in a blast that ripped apart their detached house in Sutherland Chase on November 23.
Mrs Munro, who suffered 60 per cent burns is set to be discharged from Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury in the next few weeks.
Her husband, who suffered 26 per cent burns to his head and knees was discharged on December 9 from the same hospital.
Spokesman Richard Burton said: "Sylvia Munro remains an inpatient and is making good progress and John Munro is attending as an outpatient where he is making good progress."
Investigations by the Health and Safety Executive are continuing into what caused the massive explosion that some described as sounding like a 'bomb going off'.
