Accelerant pushed through letterbox in arson attack
A man was taken to hospital after an arson attack in his Dedworth home in the early hours of this morning.
The 49-year-old was woken by his smoke alarm at 12.50am after someone pushed a lighted object through his letter-box.
Firefighters from Windsor attended and police were also called. The fire was quickly put out and the man taken to Wexham Park Hospital in Slough for observation. He was released soon afterwards.
Detective Constable Iain Watkinson, based at Force CID in Maidenhead, said: “It appears an accelerant of some kind was pushed through the letterbox of the property and then set alight.
“We are keeping an open mind as to the motive and are appealing for people who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area before the fire, or leaving the scene after the fire was started, to come forward.
