Homes targeted by burglars

BurglaryBurglars were foiled when intended victim heard a loud crash in her conservatory in the middle of the night.

She investigated and saw a man trying to force one of the windows of her house in Clewer Hill Road, Dedworth at about 12.30am on Thursday. Two men ran away.

Police later recovered an abandoned car containing tools and clothing.

In nearby Maidenhead Road at 9.30pm that night another home owner heard a noise and found a plank of wood pushed through the letterbox. Noises were heard in the garden, where the side gate had been forced and the shed searched.

The day before on Wednesday, intruders got into a house in Oak Lane through a rear kitchen window. An abandoned car was later discovered by police nearby.

A mobile phone, watches, cash, a television and remote control were stolen.

Overnight on the same day copper piping and tools were stolen from a house being renovated in St Leonard's Road after thieves forced rear patio doors.

The Clewer area has been particularly targeted by burglars in the last few weeks and police are warning people to show extra vigilance.
