Councillor speaks out after being wheelchair bound
A veteran Royal Borough councillor recovering from major surgery says that being temporarily wheelchair bound has opened her eyes to issues in Windsor.
Cynthia Endacott (Ind, Clewer North) spent nine days in intensive care during a four week stay in hospital before Christmas.
But she is already back at work and said: "Being pushed by my husband John has made me aware of a lot of things I did not realise as a pedestrian.
"The town's dropped kerbs are not wheelchair friendly, while the tables and chairs in Peascod Street are hard to manoeuvre round. They makes no sense in winter when no-one is sitting on them."
The 65-year-old said she would continue to oppose controversial plans to move Windsor's Peascod Street bus stop to Charles Street, because it make it harder for older or disabled people to reach the shops.
Cllr Endacott added she had been overwhelmed by the get well messages she had received and praised staff at Slough's Wexham Park Hospital who cared for her.
