VIDEO: Archaeologists excavating at Kingsmead Quarry
Important archaeological finds continue to be made at Kingsmead Quarry in Horton.
Wessex Archaeology have been excavating at the site in Stanwell Road since 2003.
The team clear the archaeology prior to the gravel coming out of the ground, operating about a year ahead of the quarry operation.
Over the years they have found evidence of activity dating up to 12,000 years ago with finds including early Neolithic houses, a gold-adorned skeleton of a woman dating back more than 4,400 years and items from the bronze age and iron age.
All excavation at the site could be completed next year and many of the artefacts are set to be found homes at a museum in the area.
