Angry residents pack into hall to hear pub licence bid

BeerAngry residents packed Wraysbury Village Hall today in a bid to block plans to open The George pub until 1am.

Licensing councillors heard Wraysbury Parish Council chairman Andrew Davies, say the area is a 'quiet, peaceful residential village' and people can 'tolerate disturbances, until 1pm but not 1am'.

James Regan, 84, who lives on The Green, close to the Windsor Road pub, said he and his 94-year-old neighbour living downstairs didn't mind the pub.

But he said it was what happens outside such as 'vile language and confrontations' up to an hours after closing that was the issue.

Licensee Andrew Clark, said he did not plan to use the 1am licence everyday, but wanted it for special occasions and music nights.

A decision is due to be made over the next few hours.
