Young cyclists prove they are safe riders

Nervous young cyclists took to the road this week as pupils at Wraysbury Primary School set out to prove they were safe riders.

There were 12 pupils all aged between nine and 12, all hoping to get their cycling proficiency certificates by the end of the week.

It all started off on Monday as they cycled round the playground, proving they knew their signals, were driving roadworthy bikes and could carry on in a straight line.

Then from yesterday the young cyclists were allowed onto Welley Road, flanked by instructors as they rode into Wraysbury and back.

Year five teacher and PE co-ordinator Lauren Brogan said: "They will know at the end of the week if they have passed or not but the instructors say they are very good."

Another 12 pupils will take their tests next week.
