Businesses sign up for council's Windsor and Eton facelift scheme

About 20 business have signed up for the eighth Windsor Facelift.

Facelift 2012 is designed to spruce up the town in time for the Queen's diamond jubilee next year.

It is hoped to repair and clean stonework in the town, particularly statues and monuments. Landscaped and open spaces will be tidied up and unsightly clutter such as cables and intrusive signage removed.

But organisers are looking to businesses in the town to make a big contribution by 'doing up' their own premises.

The Royal Borough has offered incentives such as a reduction in scaffolding fees while the usual red tape involving changes in colour schemes in the conservation area is being streamlined.

Dulux Paints are supporting the plan and has chosen a special Windsor and Eton Facelift 2012 'core colour palette' from its heritage range, being offered at special discounts to businesses involved in the facelift.

Eton is involved for the first time.

Town centre manager Paul Roach said he hoped as many as 60 businesses would take part, while Eton College has agreed to bring forward plans to improve areas of their buildings.

Facelift chairman Andrew Panter said: "I'm absolutely delighted that so many property owners are showing such a keen interest."
