A queue stretching back the entire length of the Castle Hotel's banqueting room on Saturday meant one thing - David Dickinson was back in town.

The last time the veteran antiques expert and television presenter came to Windsor was for the first series of his show Real Deal. Since then it has become the most popular daytime show on ITV, watched by more than a million people.

Now the show is in its eighth series and it was back at the Windsor hotel. As he prepared to knuckle down to a busy morning of evaluating the hundreds of items people had brought, David said: "It's great to bring the show back to Windsor the year of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee."

Among those in the hundreds strong queue were Aimee Bowden of Thames Street, Langley with her 18 month old son Michael and mum Julie. She said: "We have got a gravy boat, a brooch, a plate and an old picture. We don't know what the result will be but you never know."

Henry Gillespie, 69, from Windsor had brought some jewellery his wife no longer wore. He did not get an offer he was hoping and said: "I decided to take my chance in the auction room later on. That is when I'll find out if I should have taken the offer. Everyone was very pleasant and it was an exciting experience."
