Rugby themed day at Burnham school

Colour, canines and conversions came to a Burnham school today.

Digger the Dog, the London Irish mascot, met year five pupils at Our Lady of Peace Junior School.

The children have been learning rugby skills with a coach from the club for the last six weeks and have each been given a ticket to a match at the Madejski Stadium.

It was also a day of many colours at the Derwent Drive school.

Pupils were asked to wear as many colours as they could and bring in £1 to donate to The Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD) to buy 50 goats for a village in Rwanda.

So far the school has raised enough to buy chickens, pigs, a medical kit and a bike for the village.

Tamie Wheeler, head of RE, said: "The colours were fantastic. We got stripes, spots and all things multi-coloured."
