A burglar who was discovered hiding in a cupboard made cups of tea for the relatives of the owner of the house he burgled in Clewer.
The burglary happened at 9pm on Wednesday at a property in Kipling Court, York Road, as relatives returned from shopping for an elderly relative who lived at the house.
When they got inside the property they found a young man hiding in the cupboard who claimed to be the elderly resident's nephew.
The relatives knew this was not the case but the burglar continued to say he was a nephew and he made everyone a cup of tea before leaving.
It is believed he had been visiting the elderly homeowner for some time and persuaded them to give him money, which was later found missing from the property.
