Flackwell Heath 2, Newport Pagnell Town 0
Flackwell Heath were crowned Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy champions last night (Tuesday) after goals from Ryan Millward and Dan Molloy gave the Heathens a 2-0 win over Newport Pagnell Town.
Graham Malcolm, who will leave the club in May to move to Spain, was thrown into the air by his jubilant players after the end of the final at Abingdon United’s ground.
A bullet-like header from Millward put the Heathens into the lead in the early stages of the second half, and Molloy's strike ensured the Heathens would get their hands on the trophy.
Afterwards Malcolm said on Twitter: “It’s one thing to set targets, but to go on and achieve it. My thanks to my players, my staff, committee and supporters. Truly inspirational.”
The Heathens squad were desperate to send Malcolm off with some silverware, and they still have the chance of a treble this season after reaching the final of the Wycombe Senior Cup, and the semi-finals of the Hellenic League Challenge Cup.
Last night’s victory over Newport was especially sweet as Flackwell had lost in the final of the competition last year to rivals Windsor.
