Councillors asked to back idea to rename Heathrow Airport after Sir Winston Churchill

A councillor is asking his colleagues to back a campaign to rename Heathrow Airport after Sir Winston Churchill.

Cllr David Evans (Con, Hurley and the Walthams) has submitted a question to be read out at tomorrow’s full council meeting.

It says: “America has JFK, Paris has Charles de Gaulle, Rome Leonardo da Vinci, Liverpool has John Lennon.

“On the 50th anniversary of the funeral of Sir Winston Churchill, will this council support the campaign to honour our greatest citizen by naming our principal airport after him?”

What do think? Should Heathrow be named after Sir Winston Churchill? Should the name remain the same? Should it be named after someone else?

Let us know in the comments.
