At about 3.30am, police were called to Thames Street following reports that a man had been assaulted after challenging three young men who had thrown a traffic cone and smashed the window of Pizza Express.

The three offenders ran away via an alley at the side of The King and Castle pub and into Alexandra Gardens.

The men are described as being between 20 and 30-years-old, two to have been wearing white coloured tops and one in a black t-shirt. All three wore jeans and white shoes.

The victim, a 30-year-old, was taken to hospital where he remains with serious, but not believed to be life-threatening, head injuries.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information.

“This assault has left the victim with serious injuries.”
