The Windsor Triathlon will return for its 26th year as competitors swim, cycle and run through the town’s historic backdrop on Sunday.
More than 2,500 competitors are expected to push their limits on a course centred around Alexandra Gardens and the town centre.
Racers will plunge into the Thames by Windsor Leisure Centre before cycling around Windsor Great Park and finishing off by running through the town centre, under the shadow of Windsor Castle.
This year’s triathlon will have some firsts, including a chance for competitors to start in ‘mates waves’ and race together regardless of gender or age categories.
Also new to this year’s event is the chance for teams of friends and workmates to race, with special team awards up for grabs.
A spokesman from organiser Human Race Limited said: “The Windsor Triathlon is undoubtedly one of the greatest triathlons in the UK.
“It’s won British Triathlon of the Year seven times, which is more than any other triathlon in the UK.”
The event will get underway at 6am and anyone is free to come and lend their support.
