Before all sports events across the country were cancelled due to coronavirus, Cookham Running Club’s boys’ team retained its North West London Cross Country League title for the third year running.
The team tied for top honours with London Heathside AC, with both clubs finishing well clear of third placed Highgate Harriers.
The cancellation of the 54-year-old league competition means that Cookham’s Girls’ team has placed second overall.
Three of the club’s athletes also ran off with individual titles, making this the best year yet for the club in this competition.
Jacqueline Heller clinched the girls’ u13s title as she led her team to second place in this age group. Natalie Matthews was eighth overall and Eva Bartlett 10th.
In the u15s girls age group Cara Terry took top honours, closely followed by Jemima Ridley in second spot, while the team also finished second overall.
Frank McGrath who won two of the races, was also an individual champion in the u15s age group and led his team to second place.
Cookham dominated in the u11s boys’ team event, finishing seven points clear of second placed Highgate Harriers, while the tables were turned in the u11s girls event as Highgate pipped Cookham to the team title by a single point.
