With the easing of lockdown and its associated restrictions, Desborough Bowls Club have resumed playing friendly fixtures against local rivals.
Saturday’s triples home game against Chesham saw Desborough win on four of the six rinks to seal a 103-95 victory. Desborough’s top rink was that of Michael Hobson, Trevor White and skip Tony Buckley who won by eight shots.
The match scores were Paul Winstanley, Linda Davis, Brian Wright 15-18; Elaine Sharp, John Davis, Dave Seymour 16-13; Trish Skinner, Judy Smelt, Michael White 19-11; Rob Foster, Geoff Nicholls, Mike Whittingham 13-21; Michael Hobson, Trevor White, Tony Buckley 19–11; Maureen O’Reilly, John Skinner, Eric Sharp 14–21.
Desborough have also progressed in the following Berkshire County Competitions as their county ladies triple teams defeated Shrivenham 17-14 in the quarter finals. The team of Jacinta Monteiro, Sally Darby and skip Angie Isaac are now through to the semi-finals.
In the county ladies’ pairs quarter finals, Rose Turner and Gill O’Neill lost to Caversham’s Maggie Scrace and Sue Goodchild 20-14. And in the county ladies’ singles (u25s) Simran Thaman beat Katie Cole 21-10, a special match as both players are junior members of the club.
