Locations in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire are among a new list of 500 places Marks and Spencer (M&S) is considering new and renewed Food stores.
The news comes after the food and clothing retailer recently revealed it would be closing its long-standing store in Maidenhead town centre and opening a new Foodhall at the Stafferton Way Retail Park.
The new list of potential locations across the country features Marlow, Ascot/Sunningdale, Windsor and Henley.
Existing stores would be modernised and renewed.
Whereas, areas currently without an M&S store, would see a new Food store delivered.
These stores would follow the new renewal format with an extended range of M&S Food, bigger aisles for shopping trolleys and bigger car parks for more family shoppers.
The aim of the move is to double the size of the company’s food business and modernise its store estate.
There are currently M&S stores in Windsor and Marlow, but Henley and the Ascot/Sunningdale areas do not have stores.
To grow its food business, the company is looking to expand the size of its food stores to stock a fuller range and attract more visitors to come and do their weekly shop.
Alex Freudmann, managing director, at M&S Food said: “The strong performance of our new M&S food stores gives us the confidence to explore even more locations across the UK, from Elgin to Exmouth.
“With more than twenty stores opening or modernised before the end of the financial year, we are moving faster.
“Our team want new sites where we could open a large M&S Food store as we deliver on our strategy to bring the right stores to the right places and offer the best shopping experience, range and availability for our customers.”
