A foundation supporting people with neurological conditions has received a donation of £900 from the Millennium Trust of the Rotary Club of Maidenhead Thames.
The money will go towards helping the Sequela Foundation with hiring their exercise and singing professionals.
The Foundation was set up in 2012 to provide support for people with conditions such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Ataxia and those who have suffered a stroke.
The official opening was conducted out by former Maidenhead MP Theresa May in March 2013.
The Foundation was launched by Pat Capp, who was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis, a rare strain of MS, in 2006.
Anke Heley took over as the chair in July 2017 and has continued to be supported by a group of trustees and volunteers.
The Foundation is open every Friday to offer an exercise session, adjusted to the needs of the group.
Guests can also socialise with others with similar conditions and share a sandwich lunch.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, members had weekly online meetings for exercise and to have a chat.
They are now back to face-to-face meetings and have re-started the massage therapy provision, in addition to the exercise session.
Members meet each Friday from 10.30am and 2.30pm at St Mark’s Crescent Methodist Church.
