Stoke Green will meet Cookham Dean in the Julian Cup final after overcoming in-form adversaries Boyne
Hill by 22 runs on Tuesday.
Green batted first on a sultry evening at Wargrave, making a solid 170-5 from their 20 overs with Karanpreet Singh (45, retired cup rules) and Gagan Singh (47, retired cup rules) providing the backbone of the Green's innings.
Shaith had been dismissed early by a confident Will Neal
(1-25 from four overs) however, after this, the Singh duo plus Kabir Parmar (25) and Vishal Arjan (25) steered Green, cup winners in 2015, to what proved to be a defendable total.
Spinner Tom Mellor (1-29 from four) and Mudy Hussain (1-19 from four) bowled tidily.
Hill’s reply was based around 47 (retired) from Najib Khan to which Ollie Clayson (16), Hussain (17), Simon Carter (23) and Neal (16) all added useful runs, however no batsmen was able to maintain the momentum.
Hill needed 45 from the final five overs with five wickets in hand, but fell away as the experienced Zulfi Butt (3-29 from four) and young Hash Hussain (2-17 from three) stemmed the flow.
Hill finished on 148-7 from their 20 overs.
Green will meet Cookham Dean, runners-up last season to Burnham, in the final at Boyne Hill on Tuesday, July 17 starting at 6pm.
This will be the first time the two teams have met in the final.
