Berkshire Cricket League: Twyford & Ruscombe on form in six-wicket win

Adam Brookman.

Robin Thompson took figures of 7-17 as Twyford & Ruscombe restricted Warfield to just 117 en route to a comfortable six wicket win on Saturday.

Oscar Woodbridge (1-22) got the visitors off to a flyer by removing Dan Torry for five while Graham Morris departed for four to Andrew Miller (1-12) to leave Warfield reeling. George Laing (13) and Sham Gulam (32) resisted for a time but it proved futile as Thompson began his dazzling match-defining spell.

Twyford’s response wasn’t completely without incident. Patrick Stewart departed for a duck but decent knocks from Fritz (17), Thompson (20) Stuart Barrable (14) and – in particular – Pete Schofield (62) got them to their total with relatively little drama.

Waltham St Lawrence conceded their home game against Woodley 2nds, gifting the visitors 35 points.

In Berkshire Cricket League Division 2 Knowl Hill suffered a five-wicket defeat to Wokingham 6ths having been bowled out for just 131 runs.

Having elected to bat Hill struggled badly at the crease. James Stoker managed 23, Anthony Stott 29, and Adam Brookman scored 24, but in general they toiled against the likes of Shiv Munniyappa (4-4).

With the ball in hand Knowl Hill managed to chip away with wickets, but they only managed five of them before Wokingham eased to their total in the 32nd over. Prasad Kulkarni top scored with 40 before being caught and bowled by John Randall, who took 2-23.
