The first meeting where Windsor were able to welcome racegoers back through the gates proved very eventful on Monday evening.
Top jockey Ryan Moore rode two winners before suffering a fall which led to the rain-sodden track being inspected.
The stewards allowed the meeting to continue, but following the 7.50 race, they checked the track again over fears of false ground and this time decided to abandon the 8.20 race, by which time it was probably getting too dark.
Fortunately, Moore appeared to escape injury when the 6/4 favourite Aplomb took a false step and stumbled just before the winning post in the Fitzdares Royal Windsor Sprint Series Qualifier Handicap when looking set for third place.
He had earlier completed a double on two odds-on favourites, Cashew (8/11) in the British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes and Dream Of Dreams (2/7) in the Weatherbys ePassport Stakes, having won the same event in 2019.
These two six-furlong contests saw only a total of seven runners go to post on an evening when 14 horses from different stables were withdrawn due to the change of going after they had been declared.
The seven-year-old Dream Of Dreams, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, will now be aimed at the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot next month.
Cashew, from George Boughey's yard, delighted his west-Berkshire based Highclere Thoroughbred Racing owners who had also seen their colours carried to victory at Newbury on Saturday thanks to 14/1 chance Ascension.
Windsor race again next Monday with a seven-race card starting at 5.45.
