League representatives at steps five and six invited to discuss scenarios for the return of football

The FA is reportedly inviting representatives from leagues at step five and six to attend a meeting later this month on possible scenarios for the return of football at these levels.

The meeting is due to take place on June 19, and, although there is relatively little information about the agenda, the purpose is to give the leagues some guidance as to how the 2020/21 season might return with some possible timescales.

The FA is scenario planning in relation to COVID-19 and all secretaries and league chairs have been invited to attend.

Plans are being pencilled in for the return of competitive matches at steps five and six for later this year if the COVID-19 infection rate continues to fall.

This includes the Hellenic Leagues and Combined Counties Leagues

It is felt that matches could be played at most step 5/6 grounds with some minor adaptations to ensure spectators can watch safely. Unlike in the Premier League players won’t be routinely checked for the virus at this level, so this scenario is based on there being very few cases across the country at the time.
