Callum White has scored 29 goals for Marlow Men’s 1sts this season
Unbeaten Marlow Men's 1sts pulled away from their closest rivals at the top of the South Central Premier Division 2 after cruising to a 7-0 win over Havant 2nds at Pound Lane.
With their two closest rivals for the title drawing with each, Marlow took full advantage as they eased to another convincing win.
Leading scorer Callum White bagged both of them and, by the end of another thoroughly satisfactory afternoon, he'd taken his tally for the season to 29 goals.
They then started the second half in a similar vein with Goodman snaffling his second of the game from close range. Havant defended stoutly, and their goalkeeper pulled off a few stunning saves to keep the score down, but Marlow kept coming.
White scored his fourth to make it 6-0 before Chris Sewell scored his seventh goal in three games, rounding off the scoring with an amazing shot from a narrow angle.
Other men's results saw the 3rds lose 4-1 away to Eastcote 3rds, the 4ths defeat Tring 1sts 3-0 and the 5ths win 5-1 on the road at Oxford 5ths. The 6ths also ground out a 3-2 win over Amersham & Chalfont while the Vets beat Wallingford 5ths 6-4 away.
Kiera Foster's penalty stroke put the women's 1st team on their way to an impressive 2-0 win at Fareham on Saturday. Kerri Smith created the opportunity, deflecting a penalty corner goalwards only to see it hit a Fareham body on the line. Foster did the rest, sweeping the ball home to make it 1-0 to the Reds after four minutes.
The visitors' press continued to cause the home side problems, and Emily Miskell doubled their lead with a well-placed shot.
Fareham had their moments, but the Marlow defence held firm for a comfortable victory. There were also notable performances from Rachel Goodwin, who showed tremendous strength on the ball and Zoe Clarke, who gave the visitors control in the middle of the pitch. Mabel Daw and Lauren Martin also played with confidence on their first team debuts.
The women's 2nd team held onto top spot in the division with a convincing 6-0 victory at Newbury & Thatcham.
Estelle Palmer finished off a flowing team move at the back post to make it 1-0 and they netted twice more within quick succession to establish a commanding lead. Three further goals followed in the second half with Palmer and Eva Barnett both finishing the game with two goals apiece.
Eleanor Sharp added a goal with another well placed tap in and Emily Gillespie completed the scoring.
They'll now look to seal top spot and promotion to the division above with only four league matches remaining.
In the junior matches, Marlow Boys u16s A team defeated South Berks 3-0 while there was a 4-2 win for the Girls u18s over Trojans. The Girls u14s A claimed an impressive 5-3 win over Bournemouth while the u16s A team suffered a 4-2 defeat to St Albans.
The Girls and Boys u12s both finished runners up in the Bucks Cup.
