Solihull 1 (1), Maidenhead United 0 (0)
Maidenhead United sit bottom of the National League following a second successive defeat of the campaign, a 1-0 reverse at Solihull Moors last night (Tuesday).
The Magpies under-performed in their 3-1 loss at home to Gateshead on Saturday, but turned in a more positive effort at Damson Park, although they struggled to make chances and it was not enough for them to avoid defeat.
The only goal of the game came on 28 minutes when Jermaine Hylton turned his marker before finding man of the match Adil Yussuf in the penalty area who fired into the bottom corner.
It should have been 2-0 just eight minutes later after Danny Wright was brought down by Remy Clerima and a penalty awarded.
However, Wright’s spot-kick hit the post and rebounded clear.
The Magpies did enjoy opportunities to score; Ayo Obileye headed wide from a corner and Harold Odametey saw his goal-bound shot blocked,
Solihull could also have added to the scoreline, but were stopped on two occasions by excellent saves from keeper Carl Pentney.
The Moors ended the match with 10 players after Jamie Reckord received a second yellow card for a reckless challenge.
Alan Devonshire’s Magpies are yet to record a point, or have one of their own players score a goal this season.
They are away to pointless Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, before hosting Wrexham on Tuesday.
Maidenhead United: Pentney, Clerima, Steer, Odametey, Obileye, Comley, Bird (Clifton, 76), Worsfold, Owusu (Kelly, 76), Massey, Smith. Unused subs: Alves, Kilman, Mulley.
