Chairman unveils commemorative plaque to mark Magpies' 150th anniversary

Maidenhead United chairman Peter Griffin unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the 150th anniversary of the club’s first game at York Road on Tuesday.

The club had invited fans to have their name, or the name of loved ones, permanently on a display to mark the club’s 150th year. It was unveiled ahead of the Magpies’ game with Stockport County, 150 years to the day of their first ever match at the famous old ground.

Griffin said: “I would just like to say a quick thank you to everyone who has contributed to this, on this really auspicious day for the football club. It’s part of history and this will stay with us for the next 150 years, or however long we can keep it going. Enjoy the celebrations.”

The plaque can also be moved should the potential relocation to Braywick Park go ahead as anticipated in the coming years.
