Danilo and Manny expect Maidenhead United to finish the season strongly

Danilo Orsi-Dadomo expects the Magpies to have a good end to the season after they impressed in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Stockport County, but whether that will be enough to lift themselves back into play-off contention only time will tell.

The striker thumped the Magpies into a 2-1 lead in the 73rd minute, smashing the ball low and hard into the bottom corner of the net after anticipating Josh Kelly's cute little lay-off from Alfie Egan’s cross.

But County managed to salvage a result, and extend their unbeaten league run to 10 matches, thanks to Paddy Madden’s close range finish a few minutes later.

“It was a really good performance,” Danilo told Maidenhead United’s Grace Scott. “We’ve come away from home and have been compact and I thought we could have taken more from the game to be honest.

“We created chances and if we can continue putting these performances in, we’ll have a good end to the season.”

Manny Parry hasn’t been prolific in front of goal for the Magpies this season, but the defender was delighted with his well-taken finish from Dan Sparkes’ corner in the first half.

“It was a lovely finish,” he said. “Great technique on the half-volley.

“The boys are upset because I do this in training all the time, but on a serious note, it was good to get a result today and I’m buzzing. It will be a nice trip back.”

United have played few matches (30) than every other side in the division and have a hectic schedule of fixtures to play between now and the end of May. They have 12 league matches to squeeze into the next five and a half weeks, starting at Wealdstone tomorrow night (Tuesday) and continuing at home to Woking on Saturday.

Danilo added the players would have to manage their bodies well during this time and be professional to ensure they don’t overstretch themselves or play while fatigued, something which could easily hinder results in the coming weeks.

“Everyone knows their own body and we’ll just have to be as professional as possible to ensure we get through to the end of the season,” added Danilo.
