Ashmore: 'It's been fun and hard work, but I've enjoyed every second'

Goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore will look back on his loan spell at Maidenhead United with nothing but satisfaction after signing off with another clean sheet in Monday's goalless draw with Bromley.

Ashmore, signed on a short-term deal from Boreham Wood to cover for the injured Dan Gyollai, has been in magnificent form of late and rounded off his time at the club with four straight clean sheets. Those impressive displays against Wealdstone, Dover, Weymouth, and Bromley nudged the Magpies over the line in this season’s survival battle and the club can look forward to their remaining games safe in the knowledge they'll be playing National League football again next season.

“I've enjoyed it to be fair,” he told club media officer Grace Scott. “It’s been good; I’ve been playing well, and the team has been playing well. That’s four clean sheets in a row so I’m absolutely over the moon with that.

“I came here to do a job and it’s been a bonus to come here and enjoy it as well. The lads have been unbelievable, I’ve enjoyed every second with them. It’s been fun, it’s been hard work, and now I want to put the pressure on when I go back (to Boreham Wood).

“I’ve made a few friendships, Massey being one of them. We’re just two clowns together in the changing room, but they’re all good lads and I’ll miss them.”
