The overnight air temperature in Boyn Hill dropped to its coldest level for more than a decade last night, according to a regional weather expert.
Retired Maidenhead meteorologist Roger Brugge, who formerly worked at the University of Reading and still records temperatures in the area, said the air temperature in Boyn Hill dropped to -7.7 degrees Celsius last night (Sunday, January 22).
This is the coldest night since February 11, 2012 when temperatures dropped to -9 degrees Celsius.
Mr Brugge said that at this time of year, temperatures are expected to be around two degrees Celsius at night and eight degrees Celsius during the day.
Last week, Mr Brugge said that the lowest night temperature from Monday, January 16 into Tuesday, January 17 was -5.8 degrees Celsius in Boyn Hill.
Temperatures then stayed below freezing all day, reaching a maximum of -0.3 degrees Celsius. This was the first time this had happened in Maidenhead since March 2018.
