Slough boxer Hassan Ishaq has developed from being a complete novice to becoming a national champion in just three years.
The 16-year-old, who has been nurtured by the Lucky Gloves School of Boxing in Stoke Road, Slough, beat the previously undefeated Northern champion by a unanimous decision to become the England National Development champion (54kg category) in October.
Lucky Gloves first opened in 2015 and Hassan was one of the first members through the door.
He had no prior boxing experience, coming from a football background, but Lucky Gloves spotted his potential and he’s taken extremely quickly to the sport.
“He was a complete novice but his potential was spotted early,” said coach Lucky Richardson.
“In just under three years he has progressed amazingly with close nurturing and has shown his immense talent and skills in boxing. As far as we are aware he is the first national champion from any of the Slough Amateur Boxing Clubs in recent years. He continues to improve and is showing great potential.”
Lucky Gloves is an England Boxing affiliated amateur boxing club
