Maidenhead swimming star Tom Dean recorded his first win of the 2020 International Swimming League as the University of Bath swimmer helped London Roar book their place in the final of the event.
The former Maidenhead Marlins swimmer, who is supported by a Bill Whiteley Sporting Scholarship and is studying mechanical engineering, clocked a personal best of 3.37.87 as he reeled in race favourite Danas Rapsys before holding off the Lithuanian to claim an impressive victory in the men’s 400m freestyle on day one of the ISL semi-finals in Budapest.
Dean, coached by David McNulty in the university’s London 2012 Legacy Pool, also gained valuable points with a fourth place finish in the 200m freestyle as Roar finished runners-up to Energy Standard. Both teams have progressed to the final which takes place this weekend (November 21-22).
