Cricket World Cup winner Anya Shrubsole is to link up with England skipper Heather Knight to play for the Berkshire women's cricket team this season.
Knight has been with the county since 2010 and the pair helped England to World Cup glory in 2017. Shrubsole was voted player of the game in the final at Lords following her match winning 6-46, the best bowling figures to date in a Women’s Cricket World Cup final.
The medium paced right arm bowler, who is also a useful batter, was previously with Somerset, making her first team debut against Berkshire aged just 12 and claiming two wickets.
In addition to Shrubsole, Middlesex duo Kate Coppack and Ellen Watson have joined Berkshire on loan. Both counties are closely linked with Danni Warren, a lead coach for Berkshire, also heading up women’s cricket at Middlesex.
All of Berkshire’s home games will be played at North Maidenhead CC’s ground in Summerleaze Road. Their opening fixtures are against Essex on Sunday, May 5 and Worcestershire the following day, Bank Holiday Monday.
