Eagles Netball fly high in Wycombe

Maidenhead-based Eagles netball team won the ENG under 14s Netball Southern Championship in High Wycombe on Saturday to guarantee their place in the National finals in July.

The Eagles have been soaring in recent weeks, with impressive performances across all age groups at various events and it was no different at the Southern Championships.

They battled it out against 11 other sides from the South to make sure of their place in the nationals where they will get a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to the Netball World Cup finals in Liverpool in July.

The Eagles entered two teams into the competition, their u13s and 14s and despite playing up a year, the u13s put in an impressive showing to reach the quarter-finals where they lost out to eventual runners-up Abbey Flyers.

It was a clean sweep for the u14s, however, who won all three matches in the group round in some style, before stepping it up a notch in the knockout rounds, winning their quarter-final match against London-based AP Saints 11-2.

They won 9-2 against Crystal Palace in the semi-finals before a resounding 16-4 victory in the final against Abbey Flyers.

That puts them in great contention for the England Netball u14s National Club Finals this weekend in Worcester where they hope to follow the success of the Eagles u16s who won silver medals two weeks ago.
