Marlow United must rediscover spark and find consistency, says boss Pritchard

Following a disappointing run in the league, and a recent cup exit, Marlow United boss James Pritchard is calling on his side to rediscover the spark they had earlier in the season.

The Flying Blues haven’t tasted victory in five matches in all competitions, and on Saturday were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Didcot Town Development, after Liam Bushay’s strike was cancelled out by Bradley Walton’s rebounded penalty.

Then, on Tuesday evening, Marlow crashed out of the Floodlit Cup in what was a damp squib  of a contest against Kidlington Development.

Thomas Castle netted the only goal of the game 20 minutes from full time.

Reflecting on both results, and the club’s recent form, Pritchard said: “We’re definitely not sparking as we have done at other stages of the season. We probably deserved the result at Didcot but we hoped to keep a clean sheet.

“They got a penalty, it was saved, and then they scored the rebound. That’s where we are at the moment.

“The match against Kidlington was by no means a spectacle. If you’d stood there watching, it would not have been the most enjoyable 90 minutes.

“Kidlington are a very enthusiastic side but, from what I saw from us when we were at our best, I felt that we would’ve beaten them.

“Something I’m craving at the moment is momentum. It’s down to us to try and deliver a sequence of results.

“January is a big month for us, we’ve got a strong squad, we just need to find consistency.”
