Marlow still hopeful of a top four finish in Hellenic One East, says boss Pritchard

Marlow United boss James Pritchard has refused to give up hope of a top-four finish and has called on his youngsters to inspire a positive end to this year’s campaign.

After Tuesday night’s postponement against AFC Aldermaston, the Flying Blues travel to Holyport this weekend having won just one game in their last five in the Hellenic One East.

Injuries and suspensions have left Marlow ‘down to the bare bones’ but Pritchard is confident with the players he’s got available, his side can finish the season on a high.

“I’ve certainly not ruled out the top four,” said Pritchard.

“We will need to go on quite a substantial run but it’s still possible. We’ve had a poor run of results in the league which is due to a number of things but I’m looking at us finishing as strongly as possible.

“We’ve got a few youngsters in the side now due to players not being available for various reasons.

“The group that I’ve got have been magnificent throughout and we’re focused on finishing this season as well as we can with the youngsters we’ve integrated in recent weeks.”

“Saturday is a huge task against Holyport and they’re one of the sides we have to try and catch up to in the league,” added Pritchard.

“If we can go there and get three points with what a difficult challenge it is, that would be a good boost and lift for the league campaign.”

Marlow overcame Aston Clinton 3-1 in the League Cup on Saturday with John Mason, Felix Prudden and Alfie Lucas all on target for Marlow. They will travel to Didcot next Tuesday to contest a place in the semi-finals.
