Former Holyport FC hitman Fabian Driffill is confident he can maintain his goal scoring form after signing for Isthmian League South Central side Marlow FC.
The forward links up with Mark Bartley’s Blues having made 105 appearances for Holyport during a three-season spell, netting 82 goals in the process and garnering plenty of attention, not least from Bartley.
Driffill put pen to paper with Marlow on Wednesday last week (July 29) and is hopeful he can hit the ground running when competitive football returns in September.
“I’m very pleased with the move to Marlow and happy to have signed,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the new season ahead and hopeful I can keep my goal scoring record going.
“It’s always been my aim to play at such a high level and playing for Marlow can help me achieve that for the future. I’m expecting the game to be quicker and a lot more intense but I’m willing to take this task on and try my hardest in every game I play.”
Port boss Derek Sweetman arguably got the best out of the player last season, when he found the net 29 times in 31 appearances.
“He (Sweetman) always supported and encouraged me in every game I played,” added Driffill. “He helped me achieve the goals I have scored this year and I thank him for that.”
On Marlow's official website Bartley added: “Fabian has been on the radar for a while, with him continuously catching the eye for Holyport. It’s clear we (Marlow) need to be better in the front end of the pitch, and it’s hard to deny that Fabian will help us do that.
“I know it’s a step up for him, but I think his record last season goes some way to showing he has the attributes to do well at this level.”
