Sam Barratt says he will be ‘chasing down’ teammate Danilo Orsi-Dadomo to the end of the campaign in order to be crowned Maidenhead United’s top goalscorer.
Following his sublime hat-trick against Hartlepool on Saturday, Barratt has hauled his tally to 15 goals in the National League this season, while Orsi-Dadomo remains in pole position for the club’s golden boot with 17 before Tuesday night’s clash against Notts County.
As the Magpies continue to push for a spot in the play-offs, they can take encouragement from the deadly partnership established by the pair this year.
“It’s always really good to have friendly competition within the team and I think it pushes you on when your teammates are right behind you,” said Barratt.
“Danilo (Orsi-Dadomo) has been class all year and he’s been brilliant in front of goal. I’m definitely going to be chasing him down until the end of the year, knowing I’m only two goals behind him.
“After the Hartlepool match, he showed me a stat that said we’re the highest scoring duo in the league.
“It’s always encouraging to see that.”
On Maidenhead’s chances of achieving a place in the top seven, Barratt added: “I definitely feel we still have a chance of reaching the play-offs.
“If we manage to get maximum points in the next few matches, and the other results go our way, then you never know where we’ll be come the end of the season.
“More than anything, I’ve missed the fans so much. It just hasn’t felt the same all year.
“If they can come back and enjoy a game or two off the back of the season we’ve had, that would be brilliant."
The changes could see Colnbrook with Poyle, Langley Kedermister and Foxborough wards moved from Slough to the Windsor parliamentary constituency.
