Maidenhead Thicket's Tommy Hanks and Bill Hing.
Maidenhead Thicket Bowls Club celebrated another successful season, and their return to the green following the pandemic, with a President vs Captain’s Day match earlier this month.
The game was played in memory of a long-standing member, Alex Boyle, with funds raised for the Thames Valley Hospice.
President Bill Hing and captain Tommy Hanks went head-to-head in a match that was played in green and white threads to represent the charity.
Bill’s team came out on top, winning a close contest by three rinks to two.
The club also thanked Gemma Hanks for her tireless efforts in organising the event, Paul Worthy for his cooking and all those who volunteered their time to help out.
That help, and the generosity of all those who donated for the raffle, ensured the club raised more than £650 for the hospice.
Maidenhead Thicket also had members representing Berkshire in the National Finals at Leamington last week.
Sue Goodchild and Maggie Scrace got through to the last 16 of the Ladies pairs whilst Gordon Knapper, Russell Harper and Kevin Scrace were beaten in the second round by Norfolk in the Men's Triples.
Three puppies will be spending their first Christmas in loving homes after being found wandering the streets when they were only a few weeks old.
