Windsor FC stretch their winning run to six to harbour top four hopes

Football is a simple game. Twenty-two players kick a ball around a pitch for 90 minutes and Windsor FC come out with the win.

That seems to be the trend at the moment as Mick Woodham’s men stretched their winning run to six games on Tuesday night with an emphatic 6-0 win over Flackwell Heath.

Dan Roberts netted a hat-trick against the Heathens on Tuesday night and, if he manages to score four more goals this season he'll become the club's top scorer in a single season.

That result followed a comfortable 2-0 win over high-flying Bishops Cleeve on Saturday as the Royalists march towards the end of the season at a frightening pace.

“It was a good performance full of power, pace and quality,” said Woodham

“The mood we are in we can give anyone a game at the moment.”

Confidence is flowing through the veins of the Royalists, who’ve been ice cold in front of goal, scoring 16 times in their last six games, while shutting out their opponents too.

Tuesday night’s endevours included their fifth clean sheet on the spin and Woodham is in a confident mood.

“Fifth is definitely wide open to us now,” added Woodham.

“But there’s no reason why we can’t take fourth. The team are working hard for each other and there’s a lot of familiarity in the team. “We’ve got our targets and everyone’s working hard and respecting each other too.”

Windsor head into a busy Easter weekend of football taking on Lydney Town on Friday before finishing their league campaign at home against Wantage Town.

The Royalists could spoil Wantage’s title challenge if they beat the league leaders at Stag Meadow on Monday afternoon.

“Irrespective of what we do on Friday, Wantage will need a point off us,” said Woodham.

“And I wouldn’t put my money on them getting anything to be honest. We are scoring goals and enjoying ourselves.”
