Brown to leave Wycombe Wanderers this summer when his contract is up

Wycombe Wanderers have announced that one of their promotion heroes, goalkeeper Scott Brown, is to leave the club following the end of his contract.

Brown, 33, played every league game as the Chairboys were promoted to League One, having signed a two-year deal in July 2016.

However, he is keen to explore opportunities elsewhere after holding talks with manager Gareth Ainsworth earlier this week.

Ainsworth said: “Scott was very honest and explained that he’s had interest from elsewhere which better suits his home life and enables him to be closer to his family. He’s had a fantastic season for us and will always be fondly remembered not just as one of the club’s promotion-winning heroes, but as a hugely popular guy with his team-mates and with the fans.

“He will go on to do a brilliant job for another club and he leaves us with nothing less than our very best wishes and our heartfelt thanks for everything he’s contributed to Wycombe Wanderers.”

Also departing the club this summer are defenders Will De Havilland and Max Muller and young keeper Henry Newcombe, who spent the season on loan with Canvey Island.
