Barney the German Shepherd will be having a morning walk to remember when he takes part in the Woofs and Wellies event to raise money for Windsor's hospice.
Barney and his friend, a one-year-old lurcher called Cassie, are both rescue dogs from Battersea Dogs Home rescue centre in Old Windsor. At 8.30am on Saturday, February 23, he will be joining his owner Linda Ball, 59, and her son Stephen, 25, on the 9km walk in Windsor Great Park.
They will be remembering Linda's husband and Stephen's dad Graham who died two years ago, although he was not cared for at the Pine Lodge hospice in Hatch Lane, Windsor.
The hospice survives on voluntary donations and fundraising events.
Linda, who lives at Holmedale, Slough, said: "I just hope that dog owners everywhere will join in, helping raise the funds the hospice desperately needs to continue to care for the many families whose lives have been touched by cancer."
Entry to Woofs and Wellies is only £10 but participants are encouraged to raise sponsorship.
