Plans to demolish the old Jasmine Restaurant in Windsor will be considered by planners tonight.
Councillors on the Royal Borough's urban development control panel will meet at the Guildhall at 7pm to consider the plan to flatten the site in Thames Street, replacing it with a new restaurant, eight flats overhead and another home in a rear courtyard.
Borough officers are recommending they agree to the plan, on condition that a detailed plan to rebuild is in place before any demolition takes place.
They are determined not to have an ugly gap left in the middle of the conservation area. The site is only a few yards from the Theatre Royal.
