Firefighters were called to the Macdonald hotel in Windsor High Street on Monday evening after eight people became trapped in the lift.
The firefighters was called at 7.45pm after the eight, including one staff member found themselves stuck between the ground and first floor of the hotel.
Firefighters arrived at 8.10pm and isolated the lift's motor, before manually getting it safely to the first floor and releasing the people.
After a complimentary drink the released American guests continued on to a belated dinner.
After assessment by the engineer the lift was again in operation by Tuesday.
