Pupils at a village first school are being fed by a prizewinning cook.
Corinne du Preez, dinner lady at Kings Court First School in Ashbrook Road, Old Windsor, beat three other hopefuls to win the South East regional finals of the Local Authority Caterers Association's (LACA) school chef of the year competition.
The bake off event took place on Tuesday last week at Brooklands College in Weybridge. Corinne had to cook a fillet of pollock main course and a cinammon cake desert.
Judges included a professional chef and two 11 year old school pupils.
Corinne, 47, of High Street in Sunningdale, is married to an airline pilot and has four children of her own. So she is used to cooking.
She said: "I'm lucky in that I never get worked up. I was extremely nervous on the day but I did not let it show. The equipment was unfamiliar but a kitchen is a kitchen."
She competed on the competition on behalf of her employers Caterlink.
