An innovative new bank which is the first to be granted a licence in the UK high street in 150 years is set to open in Windsor by the end of the year.
Metro Bank was given permission to change the use of a unit from retail to financial services.
The Royal Borough's Windsor urban development control panel unanimously gave it the go ahead at the Castle Hotel last night.
Banking chiefs will open it up in a unit which is now part of Daniel's department store next to Gap clothes shop.
Metro Bank will provide 25 full-time jobs and the branch is set to follow the 18th opening in Slough in May since the first one opened in 2010.
Cllr Phill Bicknell (Con, Park) said it was 'wonderful' a branch was opening in Windsor.
