The run-down Windsor social club dating back to 1918 will be demolished and replaced with a sparkling new building.
Members of the Royal Borough Windsor urban development control panel gave S G Investments permission to develop the St Leonard's Road site last night.
They were unanimously given the go ahead by councillors to flatten it and also build six three-storey townhouses on the site.
A similar plan was refused in August for the former hospital as councillors said it was 'over development' and the scheme appeared 'cramped'.
Cllr George Bathurst (Con, Castle Without) said the developer had come back with a better proposal.
Applicant Danks Badnell LLP said the development would benefit the community and help 'reignite the club' and attract more members.
The club closed last June and ex-servicemen have been meeting at another venue in Windsor.
