Changes to a problematic cycle path between Maidenhead and Windsor are being considered by the Royal Borough.
Complaints have been made about the shared footway and cycle path which runs along the A308, with the side-roads and driveway entrances which open directly on to the road proving unsafe.
The section between Monkey Island Lane and Braywick roundabout is of particular concern, with two recent collisions reported at the junction of the cycle path and Cannon Hill Drive.
The issue was discussed by the council's cycle forum on Monday .
Cllr Malcolm Beer (Ind, Old Windsor), who sits on the forum, said after the meeting: "There is a strong desire to have more dedicated cycle ways in the borough.
"There is an inevitable conflict on the route, with the path being so much narrower than the recommended width.
"We will consider alternatives to bypass the more unsafe stretches of road."
The issue will be discussed in more detail at a later date.
