Windsor must have more parking.
That was the message when councillors on the Royal Borough's planning and housing scrutiny panel met yesterday.
Cllr Simon Meadowcroft (Con, Clewer South) said: "We have reached the end of the line with on street parking. We need a proper park and ride scheme or a new multi-storey car park."
Lead member for Windsor Cllr Eileen Quick (Con, Clewer East) agreed, saying: "I have had aspirations for some time to put an extra tier on the River Street car park."
Traffic jams caused by customers heading to the Legoland theme park are also worrying councillors.
Cllr David Hilton (Con, Ascot and Cheapside) felt that a park and ride specifically for Legoland customers was badly needed.
He said: "We have to have something to take the traffic off the road. Legoland's proposal to add to the parking on site will not help with the long term blockages that regularly go back to the M4."
