Christmas has come early for Windsor's sub-standard festive lights as the Royal Borough has pledged to transform the display.
A report discussed by the Royal Borough cabinet on Thursday said 'agencies from around the world' have been invited to submit suggested images for a spectacular lighting scheme to create a memorable seasonal walk in the town centre.
Councillors said the target is for key streets to be transformed in time for this year's holiday, following disappointing feedback in recent years.
Lights in the rest of the town are expected to be changed over a longer period, at an overall cost of about £200,000.
It was also felt by cabinet members that Windsor's lights have fallen below the standards set by neighbouring Maidenhead and are in desperate need of an upgrade.
