Electricity use at Windsor Leisure centre increased in the 2012/13 financial year due to the increasing number of people using the centre and building works.
Manager Jes Spencer presented a report to members of the Royal Borough's sustainability panel on Tuesday night.
In the report he said electricity used in 2012/13 increased by 40 per cent to consumption of 575,160 kilowatt hours compared with 411,140 in 2011/12.
Mr Spencer said it was down to more customers using facilities at the Stovell Road centre such as a new gym which opened in January, maintenance projects and building works.
In 2012/13 the number of customers increased by 86,787, from 732,560 in 2011/12 to 819,347 - which included 40,000 additional swims.
